News from our Wacken friends:
New band announcements!
We had a lot of band announcements within the last days. With bands like Slayer, Death Angel, Hell, Van Canto or Hämatom (amongst many others) we have enlarge this years Anniversay billing once more. A complete overview of new bands can be found on our homepage.
Hamburg Metal Dayz – Dark Tranquillity will take part and the running order is online!
The last band for this year’s Hamburg Metal Dayz is no other than the Swedish melodic death metal band Dark Tranquillity! The Band was found as Septic Broiler in the late 80s and changed its name to Dark Tranquillity in 1990. Coming from thrash metal, the band developed the famous Gothenburg metal sound together with In Flames and At The Gates, which means they kick-started the melodic death metal itself. In 2013, the band released its 10th studio album, called Construct, which confirmed the status of the band once more. We’re looking forward to welcome the band at Hamburg’s Markthalle this year! The list of bands for 2014 is complete by now! You want to know the playtimes of the bands? Check out the running order, which is now online too!

There’s a new addition to the Full Metal Cruise II billing:
Since the 80’s Peter “Peavy” Wagner, Victor Smolski and André Hilgers of Rage are rocking the stages worldwide. Now they’re planning to rock the “Mein Schiff 1” as well. The same also applies for the legendary Axxis, who will ensure a heavy sea with their mixture of Melodic Heavy and Power Metal.

We got a multivocal feedback for our announcement that schlager singer Heino and Grave Digger are going to perform together at the Dong Hill. A few of you accused us of telling another April Fools story. We will have to stick to the truth and admit that we find this musical combination highly appealing!
But just to avoid hurt feelings and disappointment, we shall stick to the truth even further: Yes, this was our April Fools prank! This seems to be the appropriate point to give a big shout out to Chris Boltendahl and Grave Digger who supported us in this! 🙂 We hope you spent a little while wondering what this was all about!
But you can relax now, no more pranks coming up. Instead – here’s the link to our brandnew updated playlists for the DOA 2014 line up – including Grave Digger!

Dear friends of thinking outside the box, listen up!
You may already have come across this phenomenon: Last year Heino released his album „Mit freundlichen Grüßen“ and sang side by side with Rammstein at the Wacken Open Air, earning his first stripes on metal terms. When the news reached us last week, we were very pleased to hear that the schlager music icon would yet again raise the horns in 2014.
We were even happier when we found out the Dong Open Air would be his first stop for the live tour. Find out more details in the official memo of his management:
“We have a number of gigs lined up with the German power metal icons of Grave Digger. Their singer, Chris Boltendahl, met Heino at the beginning of his Grave Digger career. ‘Despite the great musical differences we had, we also never ceased to foster a strong mutual respect,’ Boltendahl reports. ‘After Heino’s first excursions into heavier music, we would like to nurish this exceptional cooperation to create something entirely new!’
The odd couple is already planning a number of festival shows for this coming season, and so far the year’s premiere has been comfirmed: a show at the Dong Open Air, in the beautiful scenery, 100m above the ground on an artificial hill at the lower Rhine. Grave Digger are booked as headliners.”
We are excited as can be about this new addition to the lineup and cannot wait to see if the Dong mob is going to break party records when we get to “Metal Icon meet Schlager Legend.”
