Wacken 2012 – First bands announced: Scorpions, Ministry…

Back from Wacken 2011!!! Once again a great festival!!! And the first bands for 2012 are already announced at the official press conference by Holger Hübner and Thomas Jensen of Wacken Open Air.

Wacken 2011 – Cradle of filth out – Triptykon in

Bad news today. Due to injuries sustained by Dani Filth at the Selestat festival in France, Cradle Of Filth sadly announce their cancellation of this year´s W:O:A appearance. The band apologise and want to let all their fans know, who were looking forward to their show, that they tried all they can to make this happen though and that they are very disappointed not being able to make it. The only blessing in disguise is that Dani and his band will try to make up for it next year and therefore we are happy to announce that CRADLE OF FILTH are the first confirmed band for W:O:A 2012.

As there is an open slot for the Black Stage on Friday, we did all to find a great replacement. And we did! No one less than legendary Tom Gabriel Warrior’s (mastermind of Celtic Frost and Hellhammer) new and highly acclaimed group Triptykon will replace Cradle Of Filth on Friday 11:15pm at the Black Stage. You can look forward to a show full of dark, doom, heavy and atmospheric moments. Welcome to the W:O:A 2011.

Winners of W:O:A Metal Chorus will perform live with Chris Boltendahl of Grave Digger at W:O:A
Last week the W:O:A Metal Chorus, a contest for all the creative Metalheads, started! At the W:O:A Metal Chorus you can record an own performance of this year’s Wacken hymn „Wacken Will Never Die“ and upload the video on Wackentube. Chris Boltendahl (Grave Digger) became aware of our campaign and asks the 5 winners to perform the Wacken hymn together with himself and Skyline live at W:O:A!!! Consequently the winners of the W:O:A Metal Chorus will not perform at the Metal karaoke as planned, but they will sing the refrain of the Wacken hymn together with Chris Boltendahl during the opening show on Thursday on the Black Stage! An independent jury will judge the 5 fanciest, funniest and most creative videos of the participants. You can still engage in the W:O:A Metal Chorus until the 15th of July 2011. Important: One condition for participation is the ownership of a valid festival ticket!

From today on the playing times are online. You can find the online running order here. Our Running Order Tool is also available. With the tool you can select your favourite bands and create your individual running order. Important!!! Subject to change. The plans are updated, too.

Wacken Mail and Parcel Office
On the 1st of july we will start our new project regarding luggage shipping from and to the WackenOpen Air!
1. Luggage shipping TO Wacken W:O:A: Simplify your trip to Wacken W:O:A 2011 by sending your luggage directly to the WOA festival area in advance. You can pick up your luggage at the Wacken Mail and Parcel Office (WACKEN PLAZA) from 2 August 2011. You can find further information regarding the handling as well as prices at the following website www.wackenpostoffice.com. Here you start the assignment and pay for the shipping. You need to assign for the luggage service prior to 26 July 2011 (due to organisational requirements). The luggage will have to be picked up by UPS prior to 29 July 2011. Be advised! The luggage shipping service is a pilot project this year. The service will only be offered from the following countries: Germany, BeNeLux, Denmark, Austria, France and Sweden. The number of luggage for the service is limited to 250 pieces. So, the earlier you book, the higher is the probability that you can use this service.

2. Parcel and packaging service (including luggage service): We offer parcel shipping and packaging service at the festival area (WACKEN PLAZA) . We provide worldwide and secured parcel service via UPS so that you can send for example your merchandising products and gifts home directly. If you do not want to carry your luggage back home after the W:O:A, we also provide a luggage shipping from the festival area back to your home. We will take care of professionally wrapping and packing your belongings to ensure a secure shipping.

3. Mail and stamps: You can mail your postcards from the „Full Metal Bag“ directly from Wacken Mail and Parcel Office. Of course, we also provide you with the stamps you need for national and international mailing.

W:O:A Drummer 2011
Not only vocalists got their own competition but also all the drum possessed maniacs amongst you! Show us that you’ve got it, by thumping on everything that gets in your way (except of drum sets!). Be creative, be eccentric, become W:O:A Drummer 2011.
The ten hardest, fastest and funniest Drummers will get the one chance of winning a W:O:A Cajon and a live gig with the Smack Ballz at the W:O:A 2011. You can upload your video until the 20th of July 2011 at Wackentube.

From today on the preliminary running order of the 4 main stages is online! As always we tdid our best to create the most exciting billing possible. Times, as well as the running order tool and the missing sections like Wackinger Stage, Beergarden Stage and Bullhead City Tent will be added soon. Here you´ll find the running Order! Important – The running order isn’t definitive – changes are reserved.

W:O:A Metal Chorus
Didn´t you ever dream of standing on one of the stages of the Wacken Open Air and give the metal audience proof of your vocalist skills? So this is the right place for you… Wacken Open Air invites you to the Metal Chorus!

What´s it all about? We will give you the opportunity to sing the new Wacken hymn “Wacken Will Never Die” live on this year´s W:O:A. This will happen within the scope of the Metal Karaoke at the W.E.T. Stage.

What do I have to do? Today we have uploaded the instrumental version mp3 of the new Wacken Hymn and also its lyrics.
On the 14th of June 2011 we will start our competition on www.wackentube.com. There you can upload your video with your very own superb interpretation of “Wacken Will Never Die”. The videos will be appreciated by an independent jury. The persons which will upload the most fancy, creative and funny performance will amongst other lucky winners become a part of the W:O:A Metal Chorus!So show us what you got! Create an account on wackentube.com and upload your video. The instrumental version of “Wacken Will Never Die” as an mp3 version can be downloaded at W:O:A Homepage from now on. The lyrics can also be found there.

W:O:A Metal Masters 2011 winner is Pneuma from Costa Rica!
After 3 months the 2nd W:O:A Metal Masters ended yesterday and we got a new winner which will play live on Wacken 2011!
After a neck-and-neck race with “GOD THE HORDE” the central american band “Pneuma” won the fan voted competition.
