DONG 2013 – Lineup complete

Our friends of the DONG Open Air have great news:
Did you really think this was it?
You were wrong! We found some more surprise eggs in our back yard and shall now share them with you:
Finntroll are going to be here, and will carry their brand new album “Blodsvept” up the hill, planning to break our crowdsurfing record! They will be carried by the death metal band Rotting Empire from Ingolstadt, Germany, and their melodeath colleagues of Words Of Farewell from Marl, Germany.
Last but not least, we got two more delicacies for you: Any Given Day, who are currently advertising their debut EP with a Rihanna cover, will come from the far lands of Oberhausen, Germany, to slap us in the face with an ingenious mixture of metalcore and djent.
Get ready to sweat with the Truckfighters. The Swedish Stoner rock legend, which – according to Josh Homme himself – inspired him to start Kyuss, will do their best to blast their heaviest riffs of the festival at the audience!
It is not without a fair bit of pride that we declare this year’s Dong Open Air to be the most diverse one since its inception. Scene legends and newcomers, old skool and bleeding edge, from near and afar, from dirt rock to death metal and thrash, horror punk, folk and theatrical power metal, and introducing new sounds including North African rhythms, metalcore and stoner rock.
If you think you like the loud kind of music, but didn’t really spot anything in this newsletter that made your heart beat faster, go check out the band profiles of the musicians we confirmed. We updated many of the profiles with videos and each one comes with audio samples!
Of course, apart from all the musical highlights, the secret headliner will once again be a nice cold beer with your friends. At 2€ per half liter, we once again dance the beer price limbo of the festival nation!
In addition to the first festival teaser, we also have the first Dong Open Air trailer for you to check out. Look at our metal Garden of Eden, the Dong hill, from its best sides.
All Nightmare Dong is going to take place from July 11th to 13th! Get your ticket now, before they’re gone!
We are looking forward to see you!
Your Dong Team

Dong 2013: Born From Pain, Skyclad and more!

More DONG Open Air news:
We told you, there’s more!
We are happy to have a European metalcore band, who knows exactly what they’re doing, on our billing for 2013. Born from Pain from the Netherlands are bringing their sixth album to the Dong hill, ready to cause some pogo induced bruises. And while we’re already in the pit, we would like to announce another top notch band: Skyclad, the Originators of Folk Metal, return right in time for their 10-year anniversary of their Dong debut!
The Berlin-based glamrock royals of the Kamikaze Kings and the thrashers of Godslave from Saarbrücken have also confirmed their intentions to rock the stage. As did Spectral from the Eifel region, carrying a healthy mixture of black, death and viking metal up the hill.
Enjoy the audio samples on our website,
Your Dong Team

Soilwork at DONG 2013

One again a DONG update:
Greetings from Gothenburg!
Let us introduce the next couple of bands for this summer’s line-up to you! We’ll start with Soilwork. The influential Gothenburg style band just recently released their ninth and most successful album and is eager to present it live on stage!
Since we live and play by the motto “the more the merrier,” we also invited the Ruhrpott rockers of Crossplane to join us on our lovely hill. Additionally, we got some old skool trash, namely Hatred from Bamberg, and female fronted power metal by Exotoxis from Essen.
To put the icing on the heavy metal cake, we invited Acyl from Paris, who promised to bring along their North African folklore and death metal mélange, serving you something quite unique and exciting. If you care for more info, check out the bands’ profiles on our website!
We’ll be back with more,
Your Dong Team

Sodom at DONG 2013

A DONG update:
Thrash metal in your face!
Sodom are going to bring their brand new album “Epitome of Torture” to the thirteenth Dong Open Air! The pioneers of German thrash metal will be supported by the French metal core missiles of In Arkadia, Frankfurt based ball squeezers of Elvenpath and last but not least Orphan Hate from Berlin, who released their latest alternative metal disc last December.
Do you want more? No worries: Including these announced bands, less than half of the upcoming Dong Open Air billing has been unveiled! We will continue to feed you more in the next few days. Get into the festival mood by checking out the profiles of the bands we have booked so far and listen to the audio samples.
Best,
Your Dong Team

WFF Newsletter – Anniversary list is updated!

Hello friends, the huge birthday party of your favourite festival is getting closer and closer, and the last slots are yet to be filled. Here are the candidates who have just confirmed and want to help destroying the birthday cake: The congratulants ALL THAT REMAINS are bringing melodic metalcore from Springfield/Massachusetts with them. For the first time on stage at the Full Force they’re shooting their heavy stuff onto the folk. We are glad that it finally worked!***Headbangers with masks – everyone is thinking of Slipknow. But also in Germany, especially in Franconia, there is a band that sets great value upon their music and is therefore performing completely masked: There is talk of HÄMATOM, the trash metal – and „Neue Deutsche Härte“ –band. And the band members with the name Nord, Ost, Süd und West have planned to fire you up properly.***He became famous as bassist of the legendary Metallica. In the meantime, Jason Newsted is concentrating on his solo career and he is having a new own band ready: NEWSTED. One more reason for us to invite this very new project to our anniversary.***HC post punk, new school hardcore – whatever you may call it, but the Swedes of RAISED FIST are swinging their heavy racket and only that counts. Also being a guest at the WFF for the first time, the old Swedes are bringing their axe with them to hack the candles on the cake into pieces. No armpits will remain dry.***Unfortunately there are bad news from the house of BARONESS: The band have cancelled all their planned and also already confirmed Europe gigs due to health reasons. They are asking for your understanding.***More news are about to follow as soon as we have them ready for you. Your WFF Team
