Dong ticket sale starts today at 12 noon!

Starting today, at 12 noon, the ticket sale for the thirteenth Dong Open Air is going to start. The festival will take place from July 11th to July 13th and tickets never last long. Make sure you get your ticket for €44.99 including parking and camping. The Dong Open Air will continue to be a true heavy metal bargain, providing you with high-class brand beer for only €2 per 0.5l. Of course, you can already stock up on beverage vouchers when buying your ticket. You can also find tickets for our Dong Winter Party, party themed t-shirts, and ticket/shirt bundles, as well as the last remaining illustrated D.O.A. books in our online shop, making sure that you get all the right Christmas gifts for all the right people.

Powerwolf to play the Dong Open Air 2013!

Here are some pre-Christmas goodies from us to you! Our first big announcement for the new year is: Powerwolf are going to rock the 2013 Dong Open Air! The charismatic pack around alpha male Attila Dorn are not only itching to beat you over the ears with some rough hymns, but also to hit you with some brand new songs from their next album! Seems like we have the party factor covered! So don’t miss out on our ticket sale, starting this Sunday, the 9th of December at 12 noon! Although live music is becoming a pricier business, especially considering the risen GEMA (German performance rights organization) fees, which will cost organizers of music related events a whole lot more in 2013, we have still made the decision to keep the ticket at €44.99 for the festival including parking and camping – quite the festival bargain if you compare it to other places. Of course, beer will still be €2 per 0.5l in 2013. If you order tickets for the Dong Winter Party (Feb 2nd), you will have the right to purchase your Dong tickets a day earlier than everyone else. We will inform you about all the relevant details via email. Please make sure you set up an account in advance to ordering the tickets, so you can order them as soon as the sale starts!
Many thanks to the numerous applicants for the upcoming Dong billing! During the past two months, we drowned in hundreds of uploads, which will allow us to pick an excellent program apart from our headliners.

Dong ticket sale start

First of all, a quick heads up about the D.O.A application phase for bands ending on November 30th. Please apply via our online form and do not forget to upload at least three audio samples of your band. Now on to the actual news with lots of hoopla and ballyhoo: 2013 is approaching quickly and we have already booked our headliner whom we will announce within the next few days! Two great reasons to get the Dong tickets to you as fast as possible! Plus, our mud-mangled piggy bank could use the extra coins.
Sunday, December 9th, at 12 noon, we’ll start our ticket sale exclusively through our web shop on dongopenair.de. In case you haven’t, do set up an account in advance to save you some time in December. Also: Anyone of you who has already bought a ticket to our Dong Winter Party, is going to have an exclusive advance right to buy a ticket! This means, you’ll be able to preorder your Dong ticket prior to December 9th, if we have already received the payment for your Winter Party ticket.
Since the ticket sale of the Dong Winter Party has been going so well, we would like to point out that the tickets are an excellent option for those metal heads among you who do not yet know how to put a smile on their fellow metal heads’ face on Christmas. If you are considering giving away our lovely illustrated book “Verhältnismäßig geil!” about 10 years of Dong history, be aware that there are only 10 copies left! Have a great pre-holiday season. Dong Winter Party: Line Up Complete – The Ticket Sale is On!

As promised, here are the last bands of our line up for the Dong Winter Party that is going to rock the Weststadthalle in Essen on February 2nd! It’s about time! We had kind of gotten used to this cozy every other year thing which we had with a certain band at the Dong Open Air. A slight fear crept upon us when we realized this tradition had been broken in 2012, but then we heard a faint voice from the castle. Which castle?! Castle Grailskull, what else?! The Grailknights and their Battlechoir are coming back and fight the good fight for the Holy Grail at the Weststadthalle! Last but certainly not least we shall welcome back another regional beauty in our lineup: Path of Golconda, who had a hard time wiping that smug grin off their faces after experiencing the pure awesomeness of the Dong audience in 2012, are going to be there at the Winter Party in 2013! Support these two bands and Suidakra, Dew-Scented, The Very End, Synathasia and help us save the Dong Cow! “Rise From The Mud” with us and get your ticket now for €16.50! You can also get a nifty package deal which includes a party t-shirt and the official A1 sized motto poster of the 2012 D.O.A. “Gnodzilla – King of the Monsters” for €26.50. You will receive shirt and poster at the party in Essen.

Dong 2012 Running Order

Hey everyone,
wow, wow and wow again! We never dreamed of the sheer amount of responses to our call to arms earlier this week. Thanks to you and your many “likes” on Facebook, we currently stand a good chance to make it into the selection for Kreiskulturtage des Kreises Wesel. For those not in the know, the thirteenth Dong was selected to run in a regional cultural competition (Kreiskulturtage des Kreises Wesel). If we win, we’ll get financial support from the district of Wesel. Although all competitors will be evaluated individually by a jury, there is also a poll online up until May 11th: Check it out on www.facebook.com/kreiswesel
The project with the highest number of votes will automatically become a competitor for 2013. So get on facebook and vote for the Dong! You can vote until May 11th, 10 a.m., but please feel free to go there and raise your hand on our behalf. After all we are talking about an awesome festival weekend in 2013! You can help us a great deal, not only by voting for us, but also by spreading the word, sharing the link and mobilizing your friends, granny and the family dog to “like” us. We’re neck-in-neck with a few other competitors, so every single vote counts!
But now on to news about this year’s festival: Starting today, you’ll find the running order of the 2012 D.O.A. on our website. We mixed up the bands so you’ll find a decent mixture of all sorts of different, newcomers, old skool metal veterans and a bunch of awesome headliners each day.
