Our friends of the DONG Open Air have news:
Twelve years ago, even before the release of their first album, Equilibrium already played a show at the 2004 Dong Open Air – “Something to Bang to” and were frenetically celebrated by the audience. They will return in 2016 – now as the most successful German pagan metal band! We are more than excited to see them again at a great party!
They lineup gets even more substance with the “nuclear thrash metal” grenade Can of Worms. Freshly delivered from a beach at the Atlantic, four guys from Bayonne will surf to our stage.

Our friends of the DONG Open Air have news:
We are more than proud to announce that no one less than Bloodbath have joined our ranks for 2016! The death metal super group is composed of members of Paradise Lost, Opeth, and Katatonia and is seen out in the wild more rarely than camels in the Baltic sea. If we counted correctly, we are presenting you the seventh German show in eighteen years of band history! Considering how often the band’s lineup has changed, this may just be the last show in this constellation.
One of the supporting acts for Bloodbath will be Craving who have made themselves a name in the German pagan / melo-death / black metal scene over the past few years. Given the number of bands competing in this scene and the fact that Craving even covered the winning ESC song “Only Teardrops”, their success speaks for itself!

Suidakra are a piece of Dong history that is going to return to the hill! Since 2004, the band has marked one of the festival’s constants, unflinchingly providing the perfect moshpit soundtrack with their Celtic wartunes!
Raven Woods from Ankara complement the musical fist in the face with their serving of death metal and a dash of oriental seasoning! Furthermore, we have Harpyie for you, who know like no other current band how to blend folklore with rough riffs to a mixture that will start a party in front of the stage. When in Rome, do as the best thing that’s currently available in death metal: Fleshgod Apocalypse! Their new album “King” will be released in February, and leaves you with the impression as if Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir are trying to play each other into the ground.
On top of that we got you Delirious, who last played at the Dong 2005, trashing the stage with their thrash cover version of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. They have already gathered some experience playing with Testament, so what could go wrong?

Right in time for our ticket sale, which starts today at 12 noon exclusively on dongopenair.de, we reveal another bunch of bands to play at the Dong 2016!
Amorphis, the masters of melodic metal, are coming “into the Pott!” After “Under the Red Cloud” impressed audience and other critics, it was high time for them to return to the Dong hill after nine long years.
They will be supported by Dust Bolt, probably the freshest new breeze in the German thrash metal scene. Furthermore, Another Problem, who are going to use their forehand and backhand to beat you with some decent metalcore. Finally, we have Jesus Chrüsler Supercar from Sweden. If you liked Crossplane, you will love these guys. Additionally to the tickets we once more offer the legendary “Beer-Presale”! Well, with those vouchers you’ll get other drinks as well, of course!;)
In 2016, we are going to offer the “Show your Band” campaign again. Any metal, rock or folk band, who doesn’t play this year, can personally promote their music to the Dong audience with a small PA, and sell their merchandise. Send us an E-mail to ShowYourBand@dongopenair.de, purchase at least five tickets, present yourselves with your full line-up, do some networking and make some money. We will charge neither fees for the booth nor will we collect a percentage of your sales.

Finally! Before we’ll start the ticket sale on Sunday at noon, we are going to give you a first insight into the 2016 Dong menu:
Bam! Right in your face… Testament are gooing to land on Mount Moshmore! Into the pit, and into the Pott! The virtuous bay area thrash opens the box that is the first band package for the Dong Open Air 2016! Followed by a band, who is no less virtuous: Hackneyed and their youthful levity are going to use their excellent death metal to kick some ass and take some names! Of course, the festival wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t consider any local bands or power metal – fortunately, Elvellon cover both with their impressive vocalist from our neighbortown Moers! Kadavrik, on the other hand, are a bit rougher and more aggressive, true black metal experts. We are also quite interested to see if the tent gets steamier with them or with the Irish folk heroes The Pokes!
Either way, this was just one of many sets of recommendations for our great three-day summer buffet up on the hill. If you have never been there or just need to refresh your memory, check out or appetizer video!
